Fantastic experience: Wonderful eco paddle tour out of North Top Sail! The staff of Paddle NC were helpful and took care of all kayak set up and clean up. They provided everything I needed for the 2 hour eco tour. Our guide, Holly, did a great job giving the historic overview of the area and pointing out things of interest along the way. I typically paddle in the Swansboro area so it was nice to see a different part of the coast and learn about the Top Sail area. Overall, a nice trip in the sound.

Fantastic experience: Booking via PaddleNC's website was easy and Elysia was helpful in answering questions and making accommodations for our schedule. We booked a kayak eco tour of Permuda Island with the North Topsail location of Paddle NC. Lee was our guide and was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Permuda was beautiful to see from this perspective. As a follow-up, I rented a fishing kayak for 4 hrs. in the same week. Again, Lee was super helpful and great to learn from. This was THE way to access the estuary within the ICW. What a great way to access prime fishing spots and enjoy the surroundings! Thanks to Lee and PaddleNC for the great experiences!

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing time with Lee on our sunset kayaking tour! Lee had great stories to share and showed us such beautiful areas. I'm not the most physically fit gal but I felt like it was a good workout and not overly strenuous. If you are in the area we highly recommend booking a tour!

Fantastic experience: Most beautiful beach in north carolina i have ever been to. What amazed me what in the morning from 6 am to 9 am all the different fishes in the current. Beautiful clear water and no shell trash on the shore. Must see indeed!! The north end is less activity. Will be going back.

Negative experience: Me and my Significant Other originally booked a kayak tour at the topsail location for 2pm. After booking they sent an email saying that time was full, so my Significant other called and rescheduled for the sunset tour at 6:15pm the same day. I gave them 2 stars and not 0 because on the phone the lady was very nice but when we showed up for our tour 30 minutes early like they requested no one was there. We called the number at the site and no one answered so we left a voicemail. It took them till right before the tour was supposed to start to return our call to tell us we had to reschedule because that tour was full, even though we were already there and NO ONE WAS EVEN THERE!

Fantastic experience: Free parking is limited if you can beat the crowd. Great place to launch your kayak and explore. Even though we didn't rent from them, the attendant helped us haul our kayaks to my friend's truck. We'll definitely return to rent their paddle boards.

Fantastic experience: We did not actually use their services. They have their boats at a public access put in. We brought our own boats. But we asked for padding advice since we had not been there before and they were very friendly and helpful. We also observed them interacting with many customers and it appears they give good service. Their rental kayaks appear to be in very good condition and are quality boats.

Negative experience: We booked with company and were really looking forward to our trip. We got up early and packed up for our excursion. The directions were to be at the push off site at a 8:30, so were were along with probably 15 people, nobody Paddle NC called or showed. Once the office opened at nine I called in, they told me they were going to check into it and call me back. The other families started to leave in a few mins so I asked what’s happening, they said the company told them that the tour was off and could Be rescheduled for 11 am but who wants to sit in a kayak and bake mid day!? Also what if they don’t show again??? I waste my whole day??!! This is such poor service And a complete disregard for my time and as a result a pretty crummy and very disappointing morning.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience! They were very friendly and super flexible. Very reasonably priced for a rental. They let me return the kayak after hours and even offered to let me return it in the morning! Super flexible, i originally booked two rentals but turned out only needing one and the change was no cost. Great, friendly place and I highly recommend!

Negative experience: we had a reservation at 9 am to kayak. we got there right on time and couldnt find anyone. we walked out to the kayaks and found a homeless man sleeping amongst them. the lady on the phone said the “dreads” guy working said it was too windy for kayaking... which i didnt think it was, but i guess i’m not the expert... i just thought he could have given us a call or waited until we came at 9 to tell us it was too windy, instead of playing phone games with the lady in alabama. im glad i didnt make a later reservation and waste half my day waiting to go on a kayaking trip that was never going to happen.

Fantastic experience: Great spot to put in kayaks. Very calm and great for first timers. We just paddled by ourselves and didn't do a tour, but looked like those that did had fun!

Fantastic experience: We didn't use Paddle NC (it was late October; I don't know if they're even in operation at that time), so this review is just concerning the water access, which is great. There's a sandy beach where you can put in a kayak, canoe, etc. Just be prepared to carry your boat about 300 ft. from the parking lot. There's a pretty big area to roam around in, never more than a few feet deep, and separated from the ICW by Permuda Island so the water is placid unless it's windy.

Fantastic experience: Four of us did the Eco-tour with Ryan as our guide, it was a great time. The guides basically hang back and let you explore and answer any questions you have. It was an awesome trip and we'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something different from the beach.

Fantastic experience: My trip was with the head guide, Walter Mayo. He seemed to know his craft and provided a trip that was tailored to my skill level and the time available. A great tour that I would recommend to anyone, regardless of whether you are a novice or an experienced paddler.

Fantastic experience: Very cool experience. We did the 2 hour solo kayak rental for $30 at the recommendation of the staff. We went around the island and had a great time. I really want to thank Nick for helping us get everything set up. He was a great staff member. A few other things, make sure to make a reservation if you are going in the off-season. And, it's easy to miss if you aren't paying attention since it's just a shed in a parking lot but it's worth it.
